Light Showers

Re-Encounter

Old polar bear dog, I have seen you before.
Can you be the one that would scare me and roar?
On the way home from school you would chase me for fun,
And your paws were great claws - yes, you are the one.

How I'd run when I saw you, and how I would wail
If you brushed my bare legs with your terrible tail.
I remember your fierceness, remember your size,
Remember your teeth and your blazing dark eyes.

I remember your coat of heavy white fur;
But now you're a hot little age-yellowed cur.
Poor polar bear dog, I recognize you
From when I was a child - but how you ungrew!
