Little Women
Book 1: Four Funny Sisters
Book 2: The Sisters Grow Up

by Louisa May Alcott
Edited by Kathryn Lindskoog
Illustrated by Patrick Wynne

Multnomah Press, 1991

Little Women was the first and is still the best of all children's stories about family life. Set during the Civil War, it is the rollicking story of the remarkable March family, where everyone tries very hard to be good and to do what's right, and they sometimes succeed.

In Kathryn Lindskoog's editions of Books One and Two, every chapter is slightly speeded up and clarified, but every detail and shade of Alcott's meaning is retained.
